A visit to Krakow & Auschwitz Poland
Led by Revd Andrew Ashdown
Monday 14th - Friday 18th March 2011
What happened at Auschwitz and Birkenau during the Second World War represents one of the worst recorded crimes in human history. It is a fundamental part of 20th Century history, and has played an important role in global social, political, and theological development ever since.
This visit will combine an exploration of that history both at Auschwitz, and at the beautiful nearby city of Krakow, where we shall have a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter, and visit some wonderful monuments to Poland’s varied and often difficult history. Local guides will lead us in visits in and around Krakow.
This is a short encounter, but one that promises to be both moving and memorable, and a wonderful introduction to the beautiful city of Krakow and its environs. We shall be staying at a comfortable hotel in the Old City.
